Kiosk setup

In-store kiosks let walk-in customers self-order. Available on the Scale tier.

Pair a tablet

In Settings → Kiosk + KDS, click “Generate kiosk pairing code”. You get a 6-digit code with a 10-minute expiry.

On the fresh tablet:

  1. Open Chrome / Safari
  2. Go to <yourbrand>.khaonow.dev/kiosk
  3. Tap “Pair this device” and enter the 6-digit code

The kiosk is now paired to the branch you generated the code under, and the tablet’s browser shows the kiosk-locked storefront.

Daily routine

The kiosk session lasts until you unpair, but we recommend a daily wipe routine:

  • Start of day: confirm the kiosk is on the homepage
  • End of day: tap “End shift” in the kiosk menu (admin PIN required)

Dine-in flow

Customer:

  1. Walks up, taps through menu
  2. Reviews cart
  3. Picks “Dine-in” → enters table number (or scans table QR if you’ve generated one in admin)
  4. Pays at counter (or via integrated payment when wired)
  5. Order lands on KDS with table number prefixed

Lockdown mode

The kiosk session disables the browser’s URL bar (PWA install on iPad recommended for true full-screen). Idle timeout returns to home after 90 seconds of inactivity (configurable per tenant).

Swapping tablets

If a tablet breaks: generate a new pairing code, pair the new tablet, unpair the old one from admin. Takes under a minute.
